Glass Door Refrigerator / Visi Cooler for pharmacy and chemist
A glass-door refrigerator behind the chemist's counter that holds insulin, vaccines and other +2 to +8 °C stock, with contents visible for quick stock checks.
In a busy chemist shop, the pharmacist needs to see what is in stock and find it fast. A glass-door refrigerator shows the contents without opening the door, which reduces door openings and temperature swings. LED lighting makes labels and expiry dates readable. Because the unit is behind the counter, it is not opened by customers. Glass doors do let in more heat than solid ones, so placement away from sun and heat sources matters more.
How to configure it
- Set it to around +5 °C, the middle of the +2 to +8 °C range, to leave margin on both sides.
- Fit a calibrated min/max thermometer or data logger and record readings at least twice a day.
- Keep products off the back wall and away from the air outlet, where they can freeze.
- Organise shelves by product and expiry date, with the shortest dated stock at the front.
- Place it out of direct sun and away from heat sources.
Mistakes to avoid
- Storing food, drinks or water bottles in the medicine refrigerator.
- Packing it so full that air cannot circulate and some products sit outside the range.
- Relying on the unit's display without an independent thermometer.
