Reach-in Refrigerator for supermarket

Back-store and prep-area uprights that hold reserve dairy, deli stock and in-store bakery or kitchen ingredients before they go out to the floor.

Sales-floor cabinets are opened by shoppers all day and are the wrong place to keep reserve stock. A stainless reach-in in the back store keeps overflow at temperature, lets staff pre-chill delivered stock before it goes into the visi coolers, and supports an in-store bakery, deli or food counter. Because the same body comes in refrigerator, freezer and dual-temperature builds, a store can standardise its back-of-house cabinets on one footprint and one set of spares.

How to configure it

  • Choose a dual-temperature build, or one chiller and one freezer, if the back store needs both chilled and frozen reserve.
  • Label shelves by product group and rotate first in, first out, so older dairy reaches the floor first.
  • In peak summer, pre-chill delivered stock here before loading the front-of-house coolers.
  • Put it where air moves; a closed back store often runs hotter than the air-conditioned sales floor.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Squeezing the reach-in into an unventilated corner beside the generator, electrical panel or a hot wall.
  • Storing raw meat or fish above ready-to-eat deli items, where drips can contaminate them.

The reach-in range

Upright stainless cabinets in one-, two- and three-section builds, with full or half doors. Refrigerator, freezer, dual-temperature and convertible versions share the same body, so a kitchen can standardise on one footprint and one set of spares.
